Hackensack University Medical Center Welcomes Breast Surgery Chief

Montgomery is an internationally recognized, board-certified surgical oncologist specializing in breast cancer.

Montgomery joins HackensackUMC from Montefiore Medical Center, where she served as the chief of the Division of Breast Surgery and director of Breast Services at the Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care in New York City. 

In addition, Montgomery was an attending breast surgeon at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City for more than 11 years, where she served as director of the Special Surveillance Breast Program and the director of the Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program. 

“I am so excited to join HackensackUMC and to work with such an accomplished team of dedicated care providers to deliver outstanding services for our patients,” said Montgomery. “I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues to prevent, treat and manage breast cancer and to help our patients on their journey to better understand and manage breast surgery.” 

Montgomery received her undergraduate degree at Stanford University in Stanford, Calif., and her medical degree at the University of California at San Francisco. After her residency in general surgery at the New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center, she completed research fellowships at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Mass., and at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. 

Breast Surgery is a division of the Department of Surgery at HackensackUMC, with a team of on-site, full-time, fellowship-trained breast surgeons. The division’s multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer includes working closely with a team of radiologists, pathologists, plastic surgeons, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, and nurse navigators. This multidisciplinary team has devoted their practices primarily to the management of diseases of breast.
