Black Talon is an exotic Sword in Destiny 2 Forsaken. It’s one of the truly new weapons, not just a remake of one from the first game. It’s an ornamented, slightly curved sword that has the ability to shoot energy projectiles that do void damage. Sadly, the only way to get the Black Talon is to wait for it to drop from an exotic engram. Yep, it’s one of those. Prepare to grind your eyes out. To make matters worse, it seems like Bungie has nerfed the rewards from heroic public events – the only things we got from them since the launch of Forsaken were blue items and planetary tokens. This means we’re left with one less source of exotic engrams. At this point, your best bet would be to just roam around, kill high value targets and do strikes. The Nightfall still has the best chance of dropping exotic engrams, but it’s a tough challenge.

You can use it in melee, like a normal sword, but you can also shoot void projectiles. It uses up a lot of ammo, though, so you shouldn’t waste the projectiles on frivolous things. Thankfully, the Tireless Blade trait makes powered sword kills grant you sword ammo. The Tempered Edge perk gives you increased sword damage and ammo, while the Heavy Guard perk influences the amount of damage you can soak up. The block is pretty sturdy, and it doesn’t look like it uses up too much ammo. It’s a nice thing to have, especially if you’re used to rocket launchers and such.
